A popular exhibition celebrating the history of the typewriter is set to return for its fifth and final event.
Totally Typewriters will take place at the Clarke Foley Centre in Ilkley on Saturday 10th October, featuring a collection of more than 100 machines dating from the 1900s through to the 1980s.
The free one-day event will give visitors the opportunity to learn about the history of the machines and try out a selection of working typewriters for themselves.
Organisers are encouraging people to type anything from poetry and prose to letters or even their shopping lists.
The event will also feature an original typewritten letter from typewriter enthusiast and collector Tom Hanks.
A number of special guests will be joining the event, including creative writer and poet Molly Ovenden, who will help visitors create a poem for them to type on a vintage typewriter using a few words about themselves.
Typewriter artist Olly May will showcase bespoke artwork inspired by music and literature, while experienced typewriter engineer David Trapps will be on hand to share his knowledge.
Visitors can also bring along their own machines for some “long-awaited TLC”, with typewriters available to buy and take away too.
Organisers are also promising family-friendly activities throughout the day, with five typewriters to be won.
The fifth and final Totally Typewriters takes place from 10am until 4pm at the Clarke Foley Centre in Ilkley on Saturday 10th October.
Entry is free.
