20th Beef & Beer Dinner in Ilkley raises £55k for Manorlands

The 20th Beef and Beer Dinner held in Ilkley raised £55,000 for Sue Ryder Manorlands

The 20th annual Beef & Beer Dinner took place earlier this month at The Craiglands Hotel in Ilkley, raising an incredible £55,250 in support of Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.

Sponsored by Dovecote Park and Timothy Taylor’s Brewery, the black-tie event has become a highlight in the local fundraising calendar. Organised by the Manorlands Challenge Committee, the Beef & Beer Dinner is one of two flagship corporate events which together have raised more than £1.6 million over the years to support the hospice’s expert palliative care.

This year, 22 local companies joined the celebrations, including new guests Thrive Law and long-standing supporters such as Bulloughs Cleaning Services, RN Woolers, and Brook Taverner.

Guests enjoyed a pop-up bar courtesy of Timothy Taylor’s, serving free pints of their award-winning Keighley-brewed beers, before hearing a welcome address from guest speaker, historian and commentator Simon Heffer.

Marketing Director of Timothy Taylor’s, Jane Jenkins, said:

“We are proud to once again donate our award-winning beers for the annual Beef & Beer Dinner to raise much-needed funds for the fantastic Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope. It was a truly inspiring and enjoyable evening.”

The centerpiece of the dinner was a premium loin of beef provided by Dovecote Park, followed by a moving speech from Molly Fuchs, who shared her courageous story of living with cancer and the vital support she has received from Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.

The evening ended with a lively auction, featuring prizes such as a Timothy Taylor’s brewery tour, a corporate hospitality package for Manchester City v Brighton at the Etihad Stadium, and an exclusive ‘Gentlemen’s Weekend’ experience at The Coniston Hotel Estate & Spa.

Harriet Wood, Senior Community Fundraiser at Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, said:

“We are so fortunate to work with Timothy Taylor’s and Dovecote Park on this fantastic event. Their support is invaluable and greatly appreciated by everyone here. The money raised, inspired by Molly’s powerful speech, will make a huge difference to the lives of the patients and families we support when it matters most.

“We would also like to thank the members of the Challenge Committee, who play a crucial role in organising both the Beef & Beer Dinner and the Coniston Challenge Day. Together, these events have raised a combined total of £115,000 this year alone to support the work of Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.”
