The Clarke Foley Community Hub in Ilkley has introduced a new honours board to recognise the donations made by the local community in 2024.
Following the outpouring of support at the end of last year, the charity filled their previous board and have now installed a new one to proudly display the names of those that have made a donation this year.
Business Manager Joe Short said, “The boards are a testament to the kindness and generosity of our community, and we are incredibly grateful and thankful to everyone who has made these significant donations this year. It is very important that we commemorate and celebrate these immense acts of goodwill and support, and there isn’t a much better way to do this than by permanently displaying their names and making them a part of the building forever.”
The boards display the names of those who have made a donation of £1,000 or more and span 19 years of donations dating back to 2005. These include legacy gifts left in people’s wills, donations made by local individuals, businesses, and organisations, as well as funds awarded by grant giving bodies. The boards were both handcrafted by local furniture maker Brent Thompson of Thompson Furniture Ltd. Mr Short said, “We are delighted with the result of Brent’s work, he has produced something befitting of these acts of kindness and anyone would be proud to have their names feature on these lovingly made honours boards.”
Donations remain essential to the charity’s survival and continuation and Mr Short goes on to explain, “The Clarke Foley Community Hub only came into existence because of the legacy giving of James Clarke and Sarah Foley. Their generous bequest enabled the building of this fabulous facility, and it is thanks to the generous gifts that people have left in their wills since then that mean, 43 years on, we are still here today. We hope we’ll have lots more names to add on before the end of the year and beyond.”
Mr Short finished by saying, “If you appreciate the value of Clarke Foley and would like this facility to be available to future generations, then please consider making a donation or leaving a gift in your will. You can help to ensure the charity can continue for many years to come, and that others can gain the same pleasure from this amazing community resource in the future as you have.”
