Ilkley & District Round Table’s dedicated volunteers raised around £2,500 for BBC Children in Need during a full day of fundraising across Wharfedale on Friday.
The team, dressed in their signature superhero and children’s cartoon outfits, kicked off their efforts at 6am, spreading out across every station on the Wharfedale line to meet early-morning commuters with buckets, big smiles, and plenty of enthusiasm.
After the rush hour, the volunteers returned to Ilkley fundraising at Ilkley Station, along The Grove, and outside Tesco – receiving a positive response from the community.

A spokesperson for Ilkley & District Round Table said:
“We’re incredibly proud of what we achieved and we can’t thank the public enough for their generosity.
“Every pound donated goes towards supporting children and young people who really need it, and we’re grateful to everyone who stopped for a chat, shared a smile, or popped a coin in the bucket.”
Local residents also commented on the group’s energy and dedication throughout the day. One passer-by, who spotted the team collecting near M&S, said:
“You couldn’t miss them - they were laughing, dancing, and really lifting the mood. It was lovely to see such community spirit from the two Pudsey Bears. They absolutely brightened my day.”

The Round Table also extended thanks to Northern Rail, local businesses, and the wider community for their support, which helped ensure the day ran smoothly and safely.
