The Friends of Ilkley Riverside Parks (FoIRP) have announced the launch of a brand-new membership scheme, designed to engage and inspire the local community in the care and preservation of one of Ilkley’s most cherished natural assets.
This new membership initiative will provide local residents with the opportunity to play a vital role in the future of the Riverside Gardens. The scheme aims to raise funds, foster a sense of community involvement, and ensure the continued beauty and sustainability of the parks for generations to come.
Ilkley’s riverside parks are home to walking trails, hundreds of different wildlife species, and picturesque scenery, making it a popular destination for residents and visitors alike. However, like many green spaces, the parks require ongoing maintenance, conservation efforts, and community support to remain a safe, beautiful, and accessible area for everyone.

George Buckley, the schemes coordinator, said:
“By joining the Friends of Ilkley Riverside Parks, members will directly contribute to the preservation of the parks.
“We know what a huge asset the park is to local people so we hope the town will get behind us and support the work we’re doing to ensure the Riverside Gardens remain an attractive area for everyone to enjoy.”
The new membership scheme also allows local businesses to become active partners in maintaining and improving the parks while benefiting from unique opportunities to engage with the local community and promote their brand. Corporate members will play a key role in funding essential projects such as park maintenance, conservation efforts, and other projects.
Tom Harris, Trustee of the Friends of Ilkley Riverside Parks, said:
"We are thrilled to invite the local community to become active participants in the future of our beloved riverside green spaces. This is a wonderful opportunity for people to get involved, make a real difference, and ensure that our parks continue to thrive for years to come."

The new membership scheme is now live, and those interested in supporting the parks can sign up through the link on the FoIRP website or the groups social media. Membership fees will go directly towards park improvements, maintenance, and initiatives that benefit both the environment and the local community.
