Airedale Hospital and Community Charity has launched a fundraising campaign to provide specialist palliative care recliner chairs for hospital wards.
The aim is to ensure that no family has to leave a loved one’s side during the most difficult times.
Each chair costs almost £900 and is designed to allow family members or friends to sit or sleep comfortably at the bedside of patients receiving palliative care.
The chairs are already in use in some areas, and hospital staff say they have seen the positive impact they can make by offering reassurance, comfort and support to families.
The goal of the campaign is to raise enough money to purchase at least one recliner for every ward.
Their fundraising target is £10,500, and they have raised an amazing £3,380 so far.
Any additional funds raised at the end of the appeal will continue to support palliative care patients and their families.
Those interested in supporting the campaign or organising fundraising activities can get in touch by emailing anhsft.charity@nhs.net or calling 01535 294870.
You can donate to the cause via their Just Giving page here.
