Hundreds hit the trails for Sue Ryder at Run Bolton Abbey

Over 670 took part in Run Bolton Abbey on Sunday 9 November 2025

Trail runners of all ages put their best foot forward at the popular Run Bolton Abbey on Sunday 9 November. The event saw more than 670 running enthusiasts take part, with the day expected to raise over £21,000 for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope.

This year’s event, supported by Midgley Motor Cars of Skipton, featured everything from the 2.4‑mile fun run to the more challenging 10‑mile and half marathon options. Over 40 volunteer marshals helped runners navigate the routes, showcasing the depth of community support.

In the half marathon, Julian Hood, representing event partners Skipton AC, was the first man home in a time of 1:33:57, with Alison Williams the first woman, finishing in 2:00:08. On the 10‑mile route, Evan Lewis crossed the line first in 1:10:51, followed by Kamilla Ryan in 1:21:36. In the 10k race, James Craig was first home in 37:36, edging out last year’s winner Ben Schindler into second place. Former member of the Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice fundraising team, Molly Ralphson, was the first woman in 44:22. In the 2.4‑mile fun run, Pearl Bimblecombe finished first in 16:54, just one second ahead of Isabelle Newbould, with Dylan James the first boy home in 19:41.

Andrew Wood, Community Fundraising Manager for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, said:

"It was great to see such large entries for the second year in succession, and I'd like to give a big thank you to our volunteer Dave Belmont who has worked really hard to help us achieve this. Then of course there are another 40 volunteers on the day, many from our event partner Skipton Athletics Club, without whom the event would not happen."

Every runner received a medal made from wood grown on the estate and laser‑printed by local business Lazy Router.
