Ilkley resident Lisa McLoughlin took up running during Covid and has now set herself the challenge of completing the London Marathon in a month’s time for Ilkley charity CTI 2000.
CTI 2000 is a small charity which offers a range of fun and sociable activities for adults with learning disabilities in our local area and very much relies on donations.

Lisa volunteers for the charity and told us:
“I started my running journey during Covid and was super proud when after a few weeks I could run a 5k loop around Ilkley without stopping once to walk.
“I never considered myself a runner, in fact when I was at school, I used to smuggle the bus fare in my gym skirt so that I could catch the bus instead! That was until I got caught out!
“Five years on from Covid I'm running a marathon, and no less than London Marathon! I've been training super hard all the way through winter and have so far totted up over 500 miles of training. I am now excited to do this.
“Wish me luck and if you can spare even a few pounds it’ll be so so appreciated.”
