Audiences can enjoy a rare opportunity to experience music and art in harmony on Saturday 4 October at 4pm, when the acclaimed Pinsuti Chamber Choir will perform a free concert at Ben Rhydding Methodist Church.
Entitled “May Glory Shine”, the concert presented in collaboration with the Methodist Modern Art Collection and forming part of the Bradford 2025 City of Culture celebrations, will see Pinsuti match the ten striking artworks currently displayed in the church with carefully chosen choral pieces, creating a unique dialogue between sight and sound.
The programme spans centuries of choral tradition, including works by William Byrd, Charles Villiers Stanford, Gerald Finzi and contemporary composer Eric Whitacre, and will be accompanied on the organ by Will Campbell, Assistant Director of Music at Bradford Cathedral.
Robert Webb, Pinsuti’s musical director said:
“We want to give people a new way to experience both the artwork and the music.
“Each pairing tells its own story, and together they create an immersive journey around the exhibition’s themes of peril, grief, hope and love.”
Pinsuti is well known for its versatility across the choral repertoire. The ensemble’s last concert at Bolton Abbey earlier in September drew praise for its “gentle serenity,” “imaginative breadth” and for being “a masterclass in choral singing”, so the Ben Rhydding event promises to be an enjoyable experience for art and music lovers alike.
Christopher Solomon, a member of Ben Rhydding Methodist Church who is helping to organise the event said:
“We’re thrilled to be hosting this concert. People have been really enjoying the exhibition, which runs here until 12 October, and this concert will add an extra dimension to that experience. It’s a privilege to have such wonderful music in our church alongside this inspiring artwork, and we’re looking forward to sharing it with the community.”
Admission is free, though donations are welcome to support the church. Seating is limited and early arrival is recommended.
