A brand-new community cinema experience, Foley Films, is launching at the Clarke Foley Community Hub in Ilkley on Wednesday 30th April, offering locals a chance to enjoy thought-provoking films in a friendly and welcoming environment.
The inaugural screening will feature Small Things Like These, a powerful and quietly gripping drama based on the acclaimed novel by Claire Keegan.
The film stars Cillian Murphy in what critics are calling a “subtle and beautifully pitched performance.” Set in 1980s Ireland, the story follows a man’s struggle with conscience and community in the face of buried secrets surrounding a local convent.
Film critic Mark Kermode described it as “a film that whispers its story to you… I found it very moving.” The film currently holds a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Doors open at 6.30pm, with the Clarke Foley café and bar serving drinks and light refreshments. The film begins at 7.00pm and is expected to finish by 9.00pm. Under 14 with parent or legal guardian.
Organisers say 'the aim of Foley Films is to bring together people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy the magic of cinema right in the heart of Ilkley.'
The launch event marks the beginning of a regular film night series at the Hub, with future titles and dates to be announced soon.
Tickets are available through Eventbrite, and can be purchased on the door for £5.00.
