Burley Parish Council has given an update on the works connected with the David Williams Homes (DWH) development in the village.
The Parish Council say it, and Councillor Bob Felstead, had a productive meeting with the Project Manager for the Sun Lane site yesterday (Wednesday) morning, and posted the updates below on its Facebook page:
• Continuing roadworks – These are scheduled for completion by Easter next year. The reason for delay to the original schedule was the closure of the A59 at Kex Gill. Work on the A65 will be suspended over the Christmas period, starting December 20th.
• Ongoing work – DWH have already started construction on both halves of the roundabout. The intention is to open a half once construction is completed to divert traffic around the completed half. Roadworks will continue, but these are associated with Northern Gas, Yorkshire Water, BT, Virgin, Northern Power Grid and other providers who must put infrastructure in place below the roundabout during construction, so some disruption will remain. The intention is to minimise disruption and to remove traffic lights when and where possible, as is the case at present during the evening.
• Existing roundabout congestion, blocked Burley exit – this is being raised with Bradford Highways Engineers.
• Works at Imperial Court are complete, so traffic can now turn left & right out of this junction onto the A65.
• Piling – there are still 200 plots that need to be piled. Alternative piling methods have been considered but are not suitable in the area. The only change will be to change from the current pile to a metal pile for some plots. This minimises vibration to surrounding areas but is a little noisier.
• Hedges along Sun Lane have now been cut back. This will eventually become the responsibility of the residents' management company but for the time being has been programmed in as an annual task for DWH.
• There’s an Oak tree on the site which is protected by a TPO. This tree has a significant stress crack running the full length of the tree which will cause collapse and has been deemed as dangerous by ecologists and arboriculturalists. DWH have applied to Bradford Council to remove the tree and replace with 3 oaks. They currently await permission to do so.
The council says it has a regular monthly meeting scheduled on site, so if you have questions, please get in touch. Email: clerk@burleyinwharfedale-pc.gov.uk.
