The Ilkley Flower Show was a regular event in the Ilkley calendar which hasn't happened since the Covid lockdown - plans are underway for its return next September.
A small organising team lead by Anne Hawkesworth have held a number of meetings and have now announced two pre-events hosted by Moss and Moor, one today, 25th September at 5:30pm, with a second planned for the spring.
Anne said: “The object of these meetings is to ‘spread the work’ and also to expand an already vibrant team.
“Ask anyone if they are interested in Flowers or Baking, and most people will say yes. Possibly to one or the other but still an interest.
“Anyone who has an interest is invited and welcome to forthcoming event. You never know might feel like volunteering to support already allocated Judges list as a Judges Secretary. We are hoping to stimulate school Children in ‘Campaign for School Gardening’.”
Nigel Eaton from Moss & Moor garden centre and restaurant said: "Moss and Moor are very happy to help relaunch the flower show next September. That is why we are hosting the launch meeting at our site this evening.
“We want to support local community events, but particularly ones encouraging growing, baking, crafts, and children's activities. Community events are at the heart of towns and villages across the country, and reintroducing ones that were lost over the COVID era are even more rewarding."
