The Ilkley Pool and Lido Community Group have called a public meeting in September now Bradford Council’s review of leisure services is due to report in October.
Ilkley Pool and Lido, along with all swimming pools across the Bradford district, is under review as part Bradford Council cost savings it has to make in the coming years.
The Ilkley Pool and Lido Community Group is a group of committed Ilkley residents developing proposals to secure the long term future of the site and facilities through partnership with Bradford Council or community ownership.
A spokesperson for the group said:
“The postponed Bradford Council Review of Leisure Services, including Ilkley Pool and Lido, is now due to report options to Bradford Council Executive in early October and to then consult over the following months.
“We are expecting to have a good idea of the likely options in September and will be bringing these to the rescheduled public meeting on the 19th September, so we can work through together how best to respond when the consultation is announced.
“The Ilkley Pool and Lido Community Group have been working on how best to secure a viable future for the Pool and Lido and will share these at the meeting.
“We have costed up a set of basic improvements to scheduling, the impact of the increased ticket prices and additional sessions at the Lido, and the reduction in energy bills and these together give us a good picture of how the Pool and Lido is viable now and in the future. We will be sharing that work widely in advance of the meeting.
“We have invited our Councillors and other elected representatives to the 19th September meeting.”
The meeting is due to take place at Ilkley Grammar School from 6pm on the 19th September.
