On Sunday 13th April, Two Rivers Concert Band will hold their Spring Concert at Ilkley Baptist Church, under the expert baton of their musical director, Gregory Moor.
Although spring has only just arrived, Two Rivers is already dreaming of the hazy days of Summertime, with the sublime music of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess.
A spokesperson said:
“We will take you on a musical tour, including some local favourites in the joyful concert march A Yorkshire Pudding. Heading further afield, we take in the sights (or should we say sounds) of Scotland and the majestic Highland Cathedral. Across the pond, we hear a host of tunes from the American Civil War, in The Blue and the Gray, as well as the laid back vibe of the Big Band classic A String of Pearls. Our final destination is the Caribbean; just keep your ears open for those pesky Pirates.”
Tickets cost just £10 (free for those aged 16 and under) and are available from Grove Bookshop in Ilkley, online at www.tworiversbands.org.uk or can be bought on the door.
The concert starts at 3pm, doors open at 2:30pm and is at Ilkley Baptist Church on Kings Road Ilkley.
Admission includes a programme, plus an interval drink and plentiful homemade cakes baked by Band members.
There will also be a collection in aid of The Swan Song Project. This small Leeds based charity gives people planning the end stages of their lives and those surrounding them the opportunity to write and record their own original song. This musical celebration of life brings comfort and joy, leaving a legacy that helps loved-ones as they deal with bereavement. The band is delighted to have chosen the Swan Song Project as its nominated charity and looks forward to raising funds through their performances over the following year.
