A guided walk this month in Ilkley Cemetery will look at the interesting and important trees located within its grounds.
Ilkley Cemetery opened in 1878 and was originally laid out in the style of a park, a public open space to be visited, with two chapels and tree lined walkways and it has remained largely unchanged since that time.
In 2024, the Friends of Ilkley Cemetery, part of Ilkley Civic Society, invited Neil and Sue Stevens, who have produced Tree Trails for other parts of Ilkley, to create a Tree Trail for the Cemetery.
Sue Stevens will lead a short guided walk around the Cemetery Tree Trail on Saturday 30th August 2025 to talk about some of the interesting and important trees they have identified there.
Anyone interested in joining the walk should meet at 2pm at the Beanlands Parade entrance. The walk should last approximately 90 minutes and all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Copies of the Ilkley Cemetery Tree Trail and other Tree Trails can now be found in the Ilkley Visitor Information Centre and Grove Bookshop and online at https://ilkleytrees.org.uk/treetrails/
