Ilkley Live is once again partnering with Ilkley Playhouse for A Night of the Blues on Saturday 8th May 2026.
The evening is the second partnership between the two, giving music lovers a fantastic evening in support of Ilkley Live, a local charity dedicated to fostering community cohesion and promoting live music in the area.
A spokesperson from Ilkley Live said:
“Join us for an unforgettable night celebrating the best of Blues music - guaranteed to have you clapping your hands and tapping your toes! Not one, not two, but three incredible acts will showcase Blues classics as well as original Yorkshire blues by exceptionally talented local artists.”
Diamond Dac:
Dac grew up listening to American roots music on an old crystal set. Fascinated by the sound, he developed a lifelong passion for playing. He has learned from the old masters - John Jackson, Louisiana Red, Jerry Ricks, and John Cephas - and has also studied with Woody Mann, Mike Dowling, Michael Messer, and Homesick Mac.
A founding member of the European Blues Association, Dac has been recorded by the Sanctuary Stamstock Archive and featured among the Resophonic Players of Europe. He has released five solo albums, as well as a duo and a trio album, showcasing his versatility and dedication to the craft.
Steel and the Weaver:
Mick Stephens weaves his musical mastery into songs with effortless lyrical ease - no more, no less than is needed. Born on the island of Jersey, Mick began playing at the age of 14. With over 50 years in the business, Blues is just one of the many genres he explores, drawing inspiration from legends like Peter Green and B.B. King.
Mike Burtoft: Mike is a local legend on the musicians' circuit, delivering original blues straight from North Yorkshire. A songwriter since the age of sixteen, Mike channels a wealth of life experience into his music, tackling themes of love, life and politics with passion and heartfelt lyrics.
One Foot in The Groove:
Red hot blues! In the spirit of the Delta with the kick of Chicago, One Foot in the Groove captures the history of the blues while celebrating the excitement of its evolving styles right up to the present day. Chris Smith and the band have paid their dues to this beloved musical form, bringing decades of experience to every performance.
This local band delivers an authentic tribute to the blues, promising a night full of energy, groove, and unforgettable entertainment. Get ready to tap your feet, clap your hands, and prepare to groove!
