Ashlands Primary School’s annual Bonfire Night once again lit up the Ilkley skies this year, drawing a record turnout and raising a record breaking £6,000.
Organised by the Ashlands PTA, Friends of Ashlands, the much-loved event brought families together for an evening of fireworks, a blazing bonfire, and plenty of great food and drink. The atmosphere was warm, lively, and full of community spirit.
Headteacher Donna Russell said:
“This event is always a highlight of our school year, and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. We’re incredibly proud that the money raised will help us meet our funding goals and see the development and enrichment of our school’s offering.”
This year’s bonfire was generously sponsored by Whitaker Cadre, whose support helped make the celebration possible, Ste Hallam from Friends of Ashlands said:
“We’re so grateful to Whitaker Cadre and to every volunteer who gave their time. Seeing the whole community pull together is what makes Ashlands so special.”

The event showcased the very best of the school community, with parents, alumni, staff, and local volunteers all pitching in – from building the bonfire to running stalls and welcoming visitors throughout the evening. Their hard work and team spirit turned the night into more than just a fundraiser; it was a true celebration of what the school stands for.
With 2026 marking the 40th anniversary of the Ashlands Bonfire, plans are already underway for a standout year, Ste added:
“Next year is going to be bigger, brighter, and even more memorable, we’re really excited to celebrate four decades of this amazing tradition.”
