The Inspiring Ilkley textile exhibition is on display at Ilkley Manor House, celebrating Bradford UK City of Culture 2025.
The Sewing Sisters is a group of local makers who came together to create this installation and capture all that is inspiring about Ilkley!
The separate panels represent the mullioned windows in Ilkley Manor House, characterised by several panes of glass separated by horizontal and vertical bars (mullions). The set of eight ‘windows’ were all designed around a theme, and each maker chose a theme that meant something special to them. These include Ilkley’s moor and landscapes, food and drink, sport, young people, the river Wharfe, parks and gardens, culture and history. Altogether, they form one installation describing what makes Ilkley a great place to live.
Inspiring Ilkley is free to visit on the ground floor of Ilkley Manor House every Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm until 16 November 2025. Come and be inspired!
