Bradford Council today apologised for missed bin collections in parts of the district this week and announced crews will work on Saturday to empty the bins that were not collected.
The missed rounds were caused by a combination of factors including extreme heat, staff holidays, increased traffic during half term and Eid, and anti-social parking that blocked vehicle access.
Teams have been working throughout the week to catch up but, to ensure affected streets are cleared as quickly as possible, the council has scheduled a targeted catch-up day on Saturday.
Residents whose collections were missed should leave their bins out on Saturday morning; operatives will visit the known affected areas and streets. There is no need for residents to report missed collections if their bin was already missed this week.
The council is also asking for the public’s help to avoid parking that blocks access to bins on collection days. Not only on the catch-up Saturday, but whenever it is their scheduled bin day each week, as this is becoming more and more of an issue for crews.
A council spokesperson said:
"Thank you for your patience and understanding – we appreciate how frustrating it is but assure you we are doing everything we can to mitigate the issues."
