Ilkley Choral Society starts its 2025-26 season next month with two open rehearsals.
Experience the thrill of taking part in large-scale music making and a chance to build friendships and get a great sense of well-being and positivity.
Sally Sumpner, Chair of Ilkley Choral Society, said:
“Come along to the first rehearsal with Ilkley Choral on Monday 1st September and have a taste of being part of our wonderful choir. We meet at Christchurch on The Grove, Ilkley, at 7.30pm every Monday evening, and you can find out how rehearsals are conducted and what it is like to be involved with this prestigious organisation.
“You will be equally welcome to come along on Monday 8th September as well before you decide if you would like to join as a full member."
Ilkley Choral does not require you to audition, but if you can stay in tune and have a basic sight-reading capability – Sally says 'you’ll love it!' Gentlemen who sing tenor or bass are especially welcome, as indeed are ladies who sing in the tenor range, but no matter what voice part you are – go along and try it out.
Sally adds:
“We perform four concerts each year, and because we join up with Otley Choral Society, about 120 voices take part; always made very exciting with an orchestra or other professionals, and with superb young soloists.
Our esteemed Music Director, Alex Kyle, will be very pleased to welcome you and have a chat, and explain anything you would like to know about singing with the choir.”
