Ghyll Royd School in Burley-in-Wharfedale is delighted to invite its alumni, parents, grandparents, friends and supporters to a special community event marking the official launch of the 1889 Foundation.
The exciting new initiative is designed to support the school’s future development and long‑term vision.
Founded in Ilkley in 1889, Ghyll Royd School has a proud and rich history and as part of the Foundation’s launch, the school is eager to reconnect with anyone who attended either the original site on Grove Road in Ilkley or the later and current home at Greystone Manor in Burley-in-Wharfedale, at any time over the years. The school hopes to welcome as many former pupils and staff as possible to this important celebration.
Hosted by Headteacher Mr Hadley Nicholson, the event will take place at the Craiglands Hotel on Thursday 26th March 2026 at 5.30pm.
This landmark evening offers the wider Ghyll Royd family the opportunity to reconnect, celebrate and look ahead together. Guests will be among the first to hear the full vision behind the 1889 Foundation and learn how it will help shape and support the school’s future.
Mr Nicholson shared:
“We are thrilled to welcome our community, past and present, to join us for the launch of the 1889 Foundation.
