A new Ilkley Tree Trail is now available.
Friends of Ilkley Cemetery, part of Ilkley Civic Society, invited Neil and Sue Stevens, who have produced a number of Tree Trails for different parts of Ilkley, to review the trees in the Cemetery, to identify the different species of trees, and to consider creating a tree trail to help visitors understand their importance and significance.
Ilkley Cemetery opened in 1878 and was originally laid out in the style of a park, as a public open space to be visited, with two chapels and tree lined walkways. The layout has remained largely unchanged for almost 150 years.
A new Ilkley Cemetery Tree Trail leaflet has now been produced and Neil and Sue will lead a short-guided walk around the Cemetery Tree Trail to talk about some of the interesting trees they have identified on Sunday 1st September, meeting at 2pm at the Beanland Parade entrance closest to the riverside and lasting approximately 90 minutes.
Please note: all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Copies of the new Ilkley Cemetery Tree Trail and other Tree Trails can now be found online and in the Ilkley Visitor Information Centre and the Grove Bookshop.
