Bradford Libraries is asking you to spare five minutes to fill in a survey on changing the opening hours at Ilkley library and the other eight Council-run libraries across the district.
The survey will ask about the libraries that you use and the proposed changes to opening hours.
The link to the survey is here https://bradford.moderngov.co.uk/mgConsultationDisplay.aspx?ID=712
It is part of savings that have to be made as proposed in the Council’s budget proposals for 2024/5 and is to achieve savings of £175,000 in 2025/6 financial year.
The survey will look at reducing the opening hours of nine Council-run libraries in the district.
Options include closing libraries for one hour over the lunch periods or a combination of shortening Saturday opening hours, opening later in the morning, or looking at some half or full day closures during the week.
If you would like to take part but don’t have access to a computer a paper copy will be available at libraries.
Cllr Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive member for Healthy People and Places, said:
“This consultation will allow us to make informed decisions based on the information that our residents provide who use our libraries services. We don’t want to be having to make these changes but unfortunately, we have to make more savings and look at the services we provide and make some difficult decisions.
“I would encourage everyone of all ages to have their say on what they would like to see happen with opening hours at their local library.”
The survey will run until Wednesday, 4 September. Once consultation ends, the council will update residents.
