Ilkley Brewery have teamed up with music duo Sleaford Mods to create two special beers to celebrate the release of the band’s acclaimed new album, The Demise Of Planet X.
The much-loved Yorkshire brewery, famous for its Mary Jane session pale ale, has brewed both a 4% pale ale and an alcohol-free lager inspired by the album which is out on Friday (16 January).
Five pence from the sale of every can and 10p from every pint pulled is being donated by Ilkley Brewery to War Child, furthering Sleaford Mods longstanding association with the charity.
Sleaford Mods frontman, Jason Williamson said:
“Charting the end of days is thirsty work, so cheers to Ilkley Brewery for being on hand to quench our thirst. They are proper G.O.A.Ts with the hops, so I encourage everyone to raise a glass to The Demise of the Planet X”
Jason doesn’t drink, so including an alcohol-free option was central to the collaboration, and his face appears on the low-percentage brew. His sonic partner, Andrew Fearn, is the face of the 4% pale ale, with the design of both sets of cans directly inspired by The Demise Of Planet X’s artwork.
Rich Thackray, who ran the Sleaford project within the brewery, had this to say:
“We often have ‘The Mods’ playing in the background in our office but also in the brewhouse, and so when the call came I don’t think anyone here hesitated for a second. We were always confident that we would brew stand-out beers, and collaborating with Jason and Andrew and their creative team has been incredible. The cans look great as well as tasting great, and I can’t wait to see the beer pouring at music venues and bars across the UK to coincide with the forthcoming Tour.”
Ilkley Brewery has been crafting and winning awards since 2009 and have brewed over 400 different beers, and distribute across the UK and beyond.
The tasting notes for the two beers available on the Ilkley Brewery website:
Pale Ale, 4%: Juicy, hoppy and crushable. Packed with some of the world’s finest hops. A fresh-cut grass aroma gives way to mellow tropical tastes and a crisp bitter finish. Gluten-free, unfiltered and vegan.
Alcohol-Free Lager, 0.5%: Crisp, refreshing and easy-drinking. This lager has been carefully brewed so you wouldn’t even notice it wasn’t alcoholic – all of the flavour, none of the hangover. Gluten-free, alcohol-free, unfiltered and vegan.
