An Ilkley business owner is wearing the same British wool dress every day for 90 days as part of a new campaign promoting sustainable clothing habits.
Sarah Turner, founder of Ilkley-based Little Beau Sheep, began the 90-Day Wool Habit challenge on 1st October.
The campaign aims to celebrate British wool and craftsmanship while encouraging people to make more of the clothes they already own by wearing them more, washing them less and taking better care of them.
Sarah will wear one bespoke navy British wool dress every day throughout the challenge.
The dress was designed and made by Victoria from Norton & Townsend and will have to cope with everything from everyday work and dog walks to more formal occasions.
During the first six days, Sarah has already worn it while walking the dog, attending meetings and dressed it up for an awards ceremony in Blackpool.
Over the coming weeks, the challenge will explore some of the common perceptions surrounding wool, including how frequently wool clothing needs to be washed, how comfortable it is in different temperatures and how versatile a single garment can be.
It will also put the durability of the dress to the test, with Sarah documenting how it looks and feels after three months of continuous wear.
Little Beau Sheep said the challenge is about exploring “what happens when we wear more, wash less and properly care for the clothes we choose.”
Sarah will document each day of the challenge on social media, including the different ways she styles the same dress and how it performs over the 90 days.
The challenge is due to run until the end of December.
