Ilkley BID has announced a dog-friendly initiative running throughout August to celebrate Ilkley’s welcoming attitude towards four-legged visitors.
With over 50 local businesses participating, the campaign responds to a growing trend of visitors seeking dog-welcoming venues via the Discover Ilkley website when planning a visit.
Each participating business will be featured in an online Dog Friendly Directory and will display a ‘dog friendly’ window sticker, offer water bowls outside, and provide treats inside. The treats have been kindly supplied by Tyler James Pets.
As part of the festivities, Discover Ilkley is also sponsoring the ‘Paws at the Hub’ Dog Show on Saturday 23rd August at the Clarke Foley Community Hub. The event promises fun for the whole family, with six categories including Best in Show and Best Owner-Dog Lookalike, plus a variety of dog-themed stalls.
Commenting on the campaign, Nicola Carr from the Ilkley BID team said:
“We are a town of dog lovers and we know people like to include their dogs in their shopping trips, coffee breaks, day trips and holidays. This campaign makes it easy to spot dog-friendly shops, restaurants and businesses, and we’re thrilled by the enthusiastic response from the local business community.”
Anna Clewlow, Marketing Manager at Clarke Foley Community Hub, added:
“We are so excited to be hosting our first dog show 'Paws at the Hub'! Since becoming a dog friendly venue, we realise how much the people of Ilkley love their pooches and we cannot wait to celebrate them. We also have an amazing set of stall holders joining us on the day.”
