‘Stunning’, ‘Just Beautiful’, ‘a Hidden Gem’ - these were just a few of the comments from visitors to the Ilkley Garden of Lyn & Phil Short, which opened for the National Garden Scheme on 29th May and 2nd June.
Blessed with good weather, particularly on the Sunday, a total of 543 people were able to walk around the garden over the 2 days, enjoy its natural beauty and partake of the home-made cakes & refreshments on offer.
As a result, almost £3900 was raised for the NGS charities, including Marie Curie, Macmillan Cancer Support, Hospice UK and many other deserving care charities.
The amount was a record for this garden and brings the total raised over the years to almost £24,000.
However, the owners have stated that this will be their final year of NGS opening, but they would like to thank the many local people who baked the home- made cakes and provided welcome assistance on the 2 days, as well as the many visitors from Ilkley and further afield who made the effort to come along and visit this year and on previous occasions.
