Every year, the third week in June is Learning Disability Week and members of Ilkley’s Outside the Box (OTB) will be celebrating from Monday with displays and stories across socials media.
This year's theme is "Do you see me?" which is all about being seen, heard and valued.
OTB will be unveiling its "Do You See Me?" Photograph Display, which will be showcased across two sites; The Grove Bookshop and Outside the Box from Monday 17th June across the week.
On its social media channels, OTB members will be sharing their story and mission, including a video version of the "Do You See Me?" exhibition.
A spokesperson for OTB said: “Our focus will be on our members and their experiences, highlighting core messages such as "Do you see me?", "Do you understand me?", "Will you work with me?", "Do you hear me?", "Do you include me?", and "Will you support me?”
"Be a part of Learning Disability Week by visiting our café at the arcade, follow us on social media, make a donation to support our work as a charity via our just giving page: justgiving.com/outsidethebox and if you pop into the café you can purchase a copy of our ‘Book of Words’ created by our very talented clients.
"We will also be showcasing cakes and bakes that our members make in the cafe which will have a donation included in the price.
"Join OTB in celebrating diversity and inclusion, Let’s come together to see, hear, and understand each other better."
The exhibition at Outside the Box in the The Arcade on South Hawksworth Street will be open to the public from 9am - 4pm throughout the week and at The Grove Bookshop during opening hours.
