The Clarke Foley Community Hub has thanked its Thursday Lunch Club and dedicated volunteers for their incredible support in raising £1,000 through their weekly raffle.
This generous contribution will go a long way in helping the hub continue to provide its vital services and activities.
The Lunch Clubs, known for their warm atmosphere and community spirit, run on both a Tuesday and Thursday from 12 noon to 1.30pm and have been a staple of the activity calendar at Clarke Foley for many years. The weekly lunches consist of a delicious two-course, homemade hot meal, followed by tea and coffee for just £8. Served in a warm, friendly, and welcoming environment, the afternoons provide essential social contact for the over 70s of Ilkley and surrounding areas and remains at the heart of Clarke Foley’s charitable objectives.
One regular user commented:
“It’s not just about what’s on the plate, it’s who is around the table. We are looked after so well, and we are incredibly fortunate to have a service like this on our doorstep. We can’t afford to lose it.”
The success of their weekly raffle is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff and volunteers who run it and the participants who support it week after week. The funds raised will help maintain and enhance the facilities, ensuring that the Clarke Foley Community Hub remains a welcoming and vibrant space for all.
In recognition of this outstanding contribution, the Thursday Lunch Club’s name is now proudly displayed on the Clarke Foley Honours Board to recognise their ongoing commitment. This gesture will serve as a lasting reminder of the difference they have made to Ilkley’s much-loved Community Hub.
Business Manager Joe Short said:
"We are incredibly grateful to everyone involved in the Thursday Lunch Club and the volunteers who have given their time and energy to make this donation possible. Your generosity is humbling and inspiring and is a wonderful example of Ilkley’s community spirit, and the mutually supportive relationship we have with our users. We look forward to continuing our work together in making Clarke Foley a thriving hub for all.
"The Lunch Club have now expressed a desire to continue their fundraising efforts to reach the next milestone. Watch this space."
