Bradford Council has today said its grass sports pitches will be closed this weekend due to the weather.
The council has said in a statement:
"Due to the recent period of heavy rain and forecast for rain for the rest of the week and over the weekend, we have unfortunately had to take the decision to close all Bradford Council grass sports pitches for this coming weekend (Saturday 31 January & Sunday 1 February 2026).
"The pitches will be inspected on Thursday 5 February 2026 and we are hopeful that fixtures can return to normal next weekend."
East Holmes Field parkrun on Saturday has been cancelled, organisers say:
"Hopefully by taking a week off it will allow the grass a break and prevent further damage."
Bradford Council grass pitches include Addingham Recreation Ground, Ilkley's West & East Holmes Fields, Silsden Park, Burley Recreation Ground and Menston Park.
