Run Bolton Abbey event returns to support local hospice

Run Bolton Abbey is returning in November.

The popular Run Bolton Abbey trail running event is set to return on 4th November.

Hundreds are expected to take part in the event, with a choice of distances available to suit all abilities.

Participants can choose from a 10km, 10-mile, half marathon, and a 2.3 mile fun run.

And this year, rather than presenting a medal to all finishers, the event will be planting a tree in the Bolton Abbey Estate for every participant that crosses the finish line.

The run starts at 9am and at the start finish area participants will observe a one-minute silence for Remembrance Day at 11am.

The proceeds will go to the Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice - an end of life and bereavement support charity.

They campaign for everyone who is approaching the end of their life or grieving to have access to the right support, at the right time.

A spokesperson for the charity said:

"We seek to break down the barriers to talking about dying and grief so we can all be better prepared and better equipped to be there for each other."
