Volunteers needed to stage Yorkshire Day weekend in Ilkley

Yorkshire Day Weekend in 2025

The team behind this year's Yorkshire Day Weekend celebrations is calling on local people to get involved by volunteering at one of Ilkley's biggest community events of the summer.

Taking place at the start of August, the weekend promises a packed programme of entertainment, live music, family activities, food and drink, and community celebrations, bringing thousands of people into the town to celebrate Yorkshire and everything that makes Ilkley special.

The celebrations are being organised by Olicana Events CIC, a new not-for-profit Community Interest Company. From operations and logistics to marketing and production, the team is donating its time and expertise to create memorable events that benefit the whole community.

To help make Yorkshire Day Weekend a success, the organisers are now looking for volunteers to join the team. There are a variety of roles available across the weekend, including welcoming visitors & providing information throughout the event, as well as assisting with event set-up and pack-down, working alongside the event organisers to ensure everything runs smoothly.

No previous experience is necessary, and volunteers can sign up for as much or as little time as they are able to give. Full briefings and support will be provided, making it a great opportunity for anyone who wants to give something back to the community, meet new people and play a part in one of Ilkley's biggest annual celebrations.

Tom Harris, one of the event’s organisers said:

"Yorkshire Day Weekend is a community event in every sense of the word. It's organised by local people who are volunteering their professional skills to create something special for Ilkley, and we're now looking for more volunteers to help us bring it to life. Whether you can spare a couple of hours or a whole day, every volunteer makes a real difference, and we'd love to welcome you to the team."

A spokesperson for Ilkley Community Network said:

"Events like this rely on the support, enthusiasm and involvement of local people, and we would encourage residents to get behind the celebrations by volunteering, attending and helping create a fantastic weekend for everyone to enjoy. It’s a wonderful opportunity to come together, celebrate our town and showcase the community spirit that makes Ilkley such a special place."

Every volunteer will play an important role in helping deliver a safe, welcoming and enjoyable event for residents and visitors alike, ensuring Yorkshire Day Weekend continues to be a celebration the whole community can be proud of.
