Burley-in-Wharfedale-based Wharfedale Refugee Response is asking the public to donate coats to ensure its community stays warm this winter.
The group is collecting warm and/or waterproof coats and fleeces in good condition for children, teenagers, women and men. They can also accept gloves, warm hats and blankets, that are in new or new-like condition.
The donations will be shared between BIASAN, SHINE West Bowling, and Anchor Project.
Donations can be left in the boxes outside 4 local drop off points between Monday 23rd and Sunday 29th September:
- Ilkley — 86 Kings Road, LS29 9BZ
- Ben Rhydding — 319 Leeds Rd, LS29 8NF
- Menston — 30 Farnley Road, Menston, LS29 6JN
- Burley — 8 The Robins, Burley-in-Wharfedale, LS29 7PR
A spokesperson said:
"Help us provide a warm coat for refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable individuals before winter arrives.
"Before donating please wash, empty pockets, remove name labels and check zips and buttons. We cannot accept dry-clean only items.
"Thank you for your support."
