The Ilkley Great Get Together team with the help and support of the local schools have provided over 100 hampers to families this Christmas who are registered for free school meals.
Becky from Ilkley Great Get Together said:
"This year we were overwhelmed by the amazing donations from Ilkley residents, with exactly the right amount of Christmas cakes, crackers and mince pies for everyone.
"Sacred heart ran their now annual Xmas baking competition and some lucky families had parcels with amazing creations. The Olicana Bridge Club provided a huge box full of food and much needed money, Rotary collected masses of Xmas fayre and provided a massive donation from the Duck Race fund. Speedibake (part of the ABF family) turned up with hundreds of freshly baked muffins and mince pies, The Community Bus helped us collect 400 loaves of bread donated by Hovis. The Foodbank provided basic store cupboard staples. Booths suppliers provided boxes of veg including much appreciated and Tesco provided both carrots and potatoes, as well as storing hundreds of boxes for us turn into hampers.

Becky added:
"We have to really thank the amazing generosity of school staff. Some primary schools delivered parcels to their families after school closed for Christmas. IGS staff including Jamie Gutch who stayed with us on Friday evening until 6pm so we could help families get their food home, and then with Mel Walker, Shelley Barker, and Rebeccs Clift, came into school on Saturday and spent the whole morning helping families with their parcels. We are enormously grateful for the generosity of everyone involved.
"Thank you finally to the Town Council whose funding provides vouchers for basic foods during all the holidays. We were humbled by the reaction of families who were at times overcome.
"Thank you Ilkley. We hope you had a very merry Christmas and will have a happy new year."
