Yorkshire Water will start essential improvement works on Bridge Lane, Ilkley, from Monday, 22 September, until late February 2026.
The project will be delivered by Yorkshire Water's partner, M Group, and will increase sewer capacity, boost stormwater storage, and help improve water quality in the River Wharfe.
A nearby grassed area by the Riverside Hotel will be used temporarily to support the works. Protective matting and secure fencing will be put in place to safeguard the site and minimise disruption.
Access to the hotel, local footpaths, and the Dales Way will remain open throughout the programme, and vehicle marshals will be on-site to manage safe vehicle and pedestrian movement.
For anyone who would like to know more, there is a community drop-in event at 6pm on Wednesday 15 October at Clarke Foley Community Hub in Ilkley. The project team will be available to explain the works, answer questions,
The spokesperson said:
"If you live or work in the area, we’d love for you to come along and meet the project team from Yorkshire Water, our capital partners M Group, and ask any questions you may have.
"The work on these overflow will complement work already completed in Ilkley and the £60m project underway at Ilkley wastewater treatment works, all of which have been designed to reduce overflows entering the Wharfe."
"Please plan ahead if you’re travelling in the area, and thank you for bearing with us!"
