This weekend, absolutely 'moo-vellous' Joan will be celebrating her 90th year by taking on Sue Ryder's high-speed zipline challenge - Zip The Cow!
Joan says everyone should try it:
"If I can do it, so can you. Sometimes people just need a bit of encouragement. To anyone thinking about signing up, I say - come on, we'll go together."
Taking place through the day and evening on Saturday, 11 July, the challenge sees participants soar from the top of the iconic 'Cow' at the Cow and Calf Rocks above Ilkley, sliding 270m at speeds of up to 35 miles per hour.
An adrenaline-fuelled experience, but Joan is fearless, saying:
"People say, 'Aren't you frightened?' but I'm one of those people, if you've got to do something, just get on with it and do it. I'm not nervous until people start telling me I should be!" Though she adds, "I'll be looking forward to a drink when I get down, there's a pub at the bottom!"
There is, however, one part she's not entirely thrilled about and joked:
"I'm not looking forward to the helmet, they're not glamorous, not when you get to 90!"
