Last week a serious case of fly-tipping was reported along Moor Road by the Cow & Calf. Items included building materials, bath, toilet and cabinets.
The incident was reported to Bradford Council by a number of concerned residents including the Litter Free Ilkley group, who have praised the council’s quick response.
A spokesperson for Little Free Ilkley said:
“It was far too big a job for us warriors with our litter pickers!
“Bradford Council responded quickly, clearing everything up. Hopefully evidence will have been recovered to help identify whoever was responsible.”
The team of volunteer ‘litter warriors’ are regularly out all-around town, including lay-bys and moorland, helping to keep the Ilkley area litter free.
The spokesperson added:
“We can’t move a mountain of litter like this on our own, but every single one of us who picks up even one piece makes a real difference.
“The next community litter pick is 28th December meeting at Ilkley Bandstand at 11am. All equipment will be provided supported by Friends of Ilkley Moor.
“Come on, everyone… let’s all do our bit!”
