Schools and community groups across Ilkley are being encouraged to apply for funding through Tesco Stronger Starts scheme.
Grants of up to £1,500 are available, funding supports projects focused on improving access to healthy, nutritious food for children and young people.
Applications for food-based initiatives such as breakfast clubs, holiday meal programmes, and cookery and nutrition sessions are welcomed. Community food-growing projects and groups with a focus on healthy snacks are also eligible.
Sarah, the community champion at the Springs Lane store said:
“Groups can apply online on the Tesco Stronger Starts website and filling in the application, people can also nominate a project.
“For example a football team who provides fruit at snack time or a school project teaching children about healthy food giving out samples or a cooking class. Community hall feeding the elderly or a food bank supporting the community. It must be a non profit organisation or school.
“If anyone would like to contact me, they are welcome to drop in store and ask for me or email on 2731@uk.tesco.com”
Each round of funding sees three shortlisted projects go forward to a customer vote in Tesco stores.
Shoppers receive a blue token and can use it to vote for their preferred cause, with the number of tokens determining the amount of funding each project receives - either £1,500, £1,000 or £500.
