Early-bird entries close on Sunday for Ilkley Half and 5K

Runners of all abilities are being encouraged to kick-start their New Year’s resolutions by signing up for the 2026 Ilkley Half Marathon or Ilkley 5K, with early-bird entries closing on Sunday 4 January.

Both popular events will take place on Sunday 12 July 2026, offering participants a summer race day through the stunning Wharfedale landscape.

With the New Year traditionally a time when many people set fitness and wellbeing goals, organisers say now is the perfect moment to commit to a challenge that provides motivation, structure, and a clear target to work towards. Early-bird entry offers the best value, with prices set to rise once the deadline passes.

Pete Haigh, Race Director. said:

“January is when many people resolve to get more active, and signing up for a race gives that resolution real purpose. Whether it’s the Half Marathon or the 5K, having a goal in the diary can make all the difference."

The Ilkley 5K is an ideal choice for those new to running, returning after a break, or looking for an achievable yet rewarding goal. With six months to train, participants can build fitness gradually, making the event an accessible and motivating challenge for beginners.

Pete adds:

“The 5K is perfect for anyone starting their running journey in the New Year.

“It’s achievable, friendly, and incredibly supportive - many people completed their first ever race at Ilkley last year.”

More experienced runners may opt for the Ilkley Half Marathon, a well-established event known for its scenic route, enthusiastic crowds, and strong community atmosphere. The race continues to attract runners from across Yorkshire and beyond, many of whom return year after year.

Both events are organised by Ilkley & District Round Table with a strong focus on community involvement, volunteer support, and local fundraising. Race day brings together runners, spectators, and volunteers, creating a vibrant summer celebration in the town.
