As the nights draw in and the clocks go back, Ilkley Live has announced a host of exciting community music events for everyone to look forward to.
First up on Saturday 1 November, Natural Voice Leader Keely Hodgson is offering a ‘free singing workshop’ to anyone who fancies coming along and having a go.
Keely says:
“Absolutely no previous singing experience is needed and people don’t need to be able to read music - all the songs are learnt by ear.
"The natural voice is the voice we are born with - it's not about having a "good voice" or "getting it right". Throughout the ages singing songs has been a way of life, bringing communities together.
“It promises to be a joyful and inspirational occasion - the more the merrier!!”
There is no need to register for the workshop which is at the Clarke Foley Community Hub between 10am and 12:30pm.
On the weekend of 7-9 November, the Flying Duck is hosting its annual Beer & Blues Festival, with this year’s theme being Yorkshire v Cumbria! There will be 30+ cask ales, plus craft beers and lagers, and fabulous live blues bands all weekend.
On Friday 14 November, Ilkley Playhouse is opening its doors to an unforgettable ‘Night of the Blues’.
Three incredibly talented local acts will be performing a mixture of jazz greats and original songs that is guaranteed to get the audience hand-clapping and toe-tapping along!
The Blue Pig Boogie Band offers upbeat ‘West Coast’ and ‘Chicago’ style blues; Steel Knees Bertie is a local legend on the musicians’ circuit, playing original blues straight from North Yorkshire with his blend of heartfelt lyrics and passionate musical story-telling; and Ben ‘Blue’ Waters is a well-known and much-loved face on the North of England’s blues scene, playing foot-stomping raw blues from the 1920s to the present day on the acoustic slide guitar.
Tickets [£12] for this real musical treat are available at ilkleyplayhouse.co.uk
