The Ilkley Thingery has settled into its new base behind the former Mortens shop on Cunliffe Road, continuing the long-loved tradition of this spot being a place for tools, DIY know-how and friendly local help.
A spokesperson said:
"The move was powered by a brilliant team of volunteers, with support from the landlord and the Ilkley Rotary Clubs. Project Manager, Erika Shilling, earned special thanks for coordinating the whole operation with real dedication."
Residents can now find the community Library of Things, part of Climate Action Ilkley, at 6 Cunliffe Road, Ilkley LS29 9DZ, and are encouraged to check the website for the latest opening hours.
The Ilkley Thingery team hopes locals will spread the word about borrowing instead of buying, and repairing rather than replacing, to help cut waste, save money and support a more sustainable Ilkley.
With its new home carrying forward Mortens legacy of practical help and community spirit, they’re inviting residents to drop in, get involved and make good use of this shared resource throughout 2026.
The best way to get in touch with Ilkley Thingery is by email at library-of-things@climateactionilkley.org.uk, a new phone number will be coming soon.
