A member of the Ilkley Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club has been recognised at a national level after winning the Veteran category in the prestigious Royal Navy Photography Awards.
Chris North, a well-known figure within the Ilkley veterans’ community, secured top honours with a striking photograph featuring fellow club member Geoffrey Hogben. The image, praised for its character and composition, highlights not only Chris’s talent behind the camera but also the strong sense of identity and camaraderie shared within the local veterans’ network.
The Ilkley Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club, which meets regularly in the town, has become a focal point for veterans and serving personnel alike—offering friendship, support, and a shared sense of belonging. The award-winning photograph is a reflection of that spirit, capturing the personality and pride of those who have served.
Speaking on the achievement, members of the club expressed their pride in both Chris and Geoffrey, noting that the recognition is well deserved and a testament to the talent within their ranks.
The club continues to go from strength to strength, welcoming new members and playing an active role in the local community, from remembrance events to social gatherings.
This latest success places Ilkley firmly on the map once again—demonstrating that its veterans not only serve with distinction but continue to excel long after their time in uniform.
The group meets on the last Saturday of each month between 10am and 12 noon at The Lister Arms (JD Wetherspoons) in Ilkley, and welcomes new members from across the Armed Forces community.
