A planning application has been submitted to Bradford Council to create a new Banking Hub in the site of the former HSBC on Wells Road.
Cash Access UK announced plans for a new banking hub in Ilkley earlier this year and held an information event in May at the Clarke Foley Community Hub.
Cash Access UK is a not-for-profit company funded by major high street banks, providing cash and basic banking services in communities across the UK.
The planning application says:
“Internal alterations to a vacant unit with full retail fitout into a retail banking hub with installation of ventilation grills and condenser units.
“Installation of non illuminated signs, including fascia signs, vinyls, window posters and directory of services.”
A Cash Access UK spokesperson told Your Ilkley:
“Our team are working hard to progress plans for the hub in Ilkley. Residents can find updates on the progress of our work on the Cash Access UK website, and we look forward to sharing some positive news on our progress soon.”
When opened, the hub will consist of a counter service operated by Post Office employees, where customers of any bank can withdraw and deposit cash, make bill payments and carry out regular banking transactions. In addition, there will be private spaces where customers can speak to community bankers from their own bank for more complicated matters that require specialist knowledge or privacy.
The banks will be working on a rotating basis, so there will be staff from different banks available on different days.
The existing Post Office in the Station Plaza is unaffected.
Ilkley's last bank Santander announced in March the branch on The Grove would be closing.
The new hub is expected to open by March 2026.
