Ben Rhydding based, Bramhope Beauty Clinic, has announced it will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most spray tans applied in 3 minutes on 26th October to raise awareness of skin health.
The current record stands at 7 spray tans.
As part of our ongoing commitment to skin health, wellbeing and safer lifestyle choices, this event will be launched in conjunction with the opening of its new Academy - teaching spray tanning using NOUVATAN and in partnership with organisations that share our values.
The aim of this campaign is to raise awareness of the dangers associated with UV tanning (such as sunbeds) and highlight safer, healthier alternatives, and to encourage informed, skin-conscious choices among the public, particularly the younger generation by promoting safer tanning methods.
The Guinness World Record attempt will be at 11:30 on Sunday 26th October in the clinic at 135 Bolling Road, Ben Rhydding, LS29 8PN. 12+ members of the public are being recruited to participate in the official record attempt.
Talking about the attempt, Kelseigh Palmer-Smeaton, CEO of Bramhope Beauty Clinic said:
“I often joke that running three salons clearly isn’t enough to keep me busy - so I thought, why not add a Guinness World Record attempt to the mix!
“At first, this idea started out as a bit of fun - something exciting and memorable for our team and clients to be part of. But the more I thought about it, the more I realised just how important it could be.
“UV tanning, especially sunbeds, continues to rise in popularity, particularly among young people. Despite the well-known risks, many still choose UV tanning - even though it has been classified as a Group 1 carcinogen, the same category as tobacco. Using sunbeds before the age of 35 increases the risk of developing melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, by up to 75%.
“That’s why this event has become about so much more than breaking a record. It’s about starting a conversation, raising awareness and showing that spray tanning offers a safe, healthy alternative to UV exposure.
“Our hope is to inspire people to think twice about the choices they make for their skin. If we can educate, raise awareness and have a little fun while making history, then this will be a truly meaningful moment for us and our community.”
