Every year volunteers from Ilkley Great Get Together team pack Christmas cakes, crackers and mince pies for families who are eligible for free school meals in Ilkley.
A spokesperson said:
“This year we had a donation of £8000 from Ilkley Town Council and £1000 from the Duck Race, for which we are very grateful.
“This means that we are able to provide a £25 voucher per family with 2 children for essential food for October and for Christmas.
“Sadly, the numbers are increasing still and we now have 188 families eligible for Free school meals, on universal credit or equivalent low income, needing help.
“Can you help us provide a lovely Christmas parcel for our local families? We are looking again for Christmas cakes, Christmas crackers, mince pies or any other treats you would like to donate.
“We thought some of you might be baking your Christmas cakes and could pop a couple more in the over for us.”
Anyone with donations is ask to please leave in the boxes outside 30 Nelson Rd in Ilkley [LS29 8HN] by Tuesday 17th December 2024.
