Ben Rhydding Primary School is delighted to announce that they have been recognised as a ‘outward facing school’ with ‘compassionate leadership’ evident across the school.
They have been awarded the Value Based Education accreditation which evaluates the school across six key areas: wellbeing, ethical leadership, teaching and learning, behaviour and attitudes, reflection and values in action. The school provides a strong sense of community in an learning environment where children flourish both academically and personally.
Values-Based Education, founded by Dr Neil Hawkes, recognises schools across the world, who are on a journey to being truly values based organisations. Ben Rhydding joins a select list of schools with the award in the UK. As part of being awarded the accreditation, the auditors spoke to leadership, staff, pupils and governors as well as observing lessons and school routines.
The accreditation comes a few days after also maintaining their status as a ‘good’ school by Ofsted.
Headteacher, Mr Peter Timms, expressed pride in the achievement:
“As a school we believe not only in developing pupils to succeed at school but also that we should instil the belief and determination in pupils to reshape the world beyond school; it is great that all our hard work has been recognised and the whole school community should be very proud”.
With the Values-Based Education accreditation, Ben Rhydding Primary is now committed to further their Value Based Curriculum, actively growing partnerships in the community and deepening their values-based work in school.
Ben Rhydding Primary School is a one form entry primary school in Ilkley. The school seeks to create an environment where children can excel in their learning, contribute to their community and become independent and empathetic young people. They want their school culture to be underpinned by caring relationships between staff, pupils and parents; working in partnership to build our learning community.
A series of Open Days are taking place at the school over the next few weeks. For more information, please go to benrhyddingprimary.co.uk
