Countdown begins to 2026 Ilkley Cycle Races

Ilkley will once again come alive with speed, energy, and community spirit as the much-anticipated Ilkley Cycle Races return on Friday 3rd July.

The annual event promises a thrilling evening of competitive cycling, attracting riders and spectators from across the region and beyond.

Set against the scenic backdrop of Ilkley’s town centre streets, the races will feature a fast-paced circuit designed to challenge riders and entertain crowds.

This year’s programme showcases a diverse range of races, offering something for all ages and levels of competition:

  • The MAS Design Youth Races will see the next generation of cyclists take to the circuit, highlighting emerging talent and inspiring young riders.
  • The Ilkley CC Veterans Race brings together experienced competitors, proving that racing spirit and speed only improve with age.
  • The Olicana Classic delivers a fiercely contested race steeped in local cycling heritage.
  • The Milly Grace Grand Prix is set to be a standout feature, celebrating elite women’s racing with a dynamic and highly competitive field.
  •  The Lister Horsfall Grand Prix will close the evening, featuring top-tier riders battling it out in a high-intensity race that promises a spectacular finish as the sun sets.

One of the organising team, Tom Harris, expressed his excitement ahead of the event:

"The Ilkley Cycle Races are all about bringing the community together while showcasing our town on a national stage. We’re incredibly grateful to our sponsors, whose support makes the event possible, and we’re looking forward to bringing together both residents and visitors for what promises to be an unforgettable evening of top-tier cycling."

The event has built a strong reputation among competitors, including returning riders such as Renan, who reflected on his experience:

"Racing in Ilkley is something special. The crowds are incredibly supportive, and the course is both technical and exciting. It’s an event every cyclist wants to be part of."

Spectators can expect not only high-speed racing but also a vibrant festival atmosphere, with local businesses, and food vendors adding to the occasion.
