A former Ilkley town centre pub and hotel, vacant since 2021, could be converted into 10 self-contained residential apartments if plans are approved by Bradford Council.
On the corner of Leeds Road and New Brook Street, The Dalesway Hotel, formally The Star, has a public house history which dates back to 1905. Since closing it has been offered as a tenancy by its owners, and been for sale in recent years.
The plans by the applicant, Afzal Hussain, show ten apartments, nine within the main building and one within the outbuilding.
The scheme follows a 'car-free parking strategy', with no on-site car parking, the application says this is supported by secure cycle storage and the town centre accessibility to strong transport links. It mentions Ilkley's Neighbourhood Development Plan, which expects a development to promote walking, cycling and public transport as first choices, to reduces reliance on private cars.

The plans across all four floors would limit external works and focus on repair and internal reconfiguration and refurbishment.
The planning application can be viewed on the Bradford Council planning portal: https://planning.bradford.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=T9BVF0DHMPI00
