An independent Ilkley deli has celebrated six years in business after opening during the Covid pandemic.
New Brook Street Deli opened in October 2020 and has grown from its early days offering takeaways into an established town centre business. The mother-and-daughter team behind the deli have marked the anniversary by reflecting on the challenges of launching at such an uncertain time – and admitting they had little idea what the future would hold. They said: “We opened New Brook Street Deli in October 2020, in the middle of a pandemic. "And to be brutally honest, not an iota of an idea what the hell we were doing or what the future would look like. “There were plenty of people that told us we were crazy, it wouldn’t work and we would fail – kinda proved them wrong! “Just a little idea, a lot of hard work and the hungry passion inside that we could make it work.” Six years on, the pair say the business has developed into far more than they initially imagined, with plenty of changes, challenges and lessons along the way. They added: “Thank you to everyone who’s been part of our story."
