New Ilkley care home Verbeia Grange officially opens for residents

Its history was recently recognised by Ilkley Civic Society, which unveiled its 25th blue plaque at the property.

A new care home in Ilkley has officially opened its doors and is welcoming residents following an 11-month refurbishment.

Verbeia Grange, formerly known as Troutbeck Care Home, opened on 5th October and is now providing residential care for people aged 65 and over.

The home is part of Holden Grange Care Group and has undergone an extensive restoration to transform the historic building into a modern care facility.

The property dates back to 1864, when it was originally built for Dr Edmund Smith and opened as Trout Beck Hydro.

Over the years, it has served several purposes, including as a hydro, private hotel and nursing home.

Its history was recently recognised by Ilkley Civic Society, which unveiled its 25th blue plaque at the property.

The team behind Verbeia Grange has documented the restoration through a series of behind-the-scenes videos, with the ninth and final episode revealing the completed home.

Deborah from Briggate House Interiors worked on the project, helping to develop the colour palette and interior design to create a warm and welcoming environment for residents.

A spokesperson for Verbeia Grange said:

“We’re delighted to share the moment we’ve been working towards – our restoration is complete, and Verbeia Grange is now open!

“A huge thank you to Deborah.

"She has been amazing from start to finish, bringing creativity, care and attention to every detail.

“We’re so grateful for everything she’s done to help bring Verbeia Grange to life.”

Ahead of the opening, the care home hosted three open days in September and October, giving local people an opportunity to explore the facilities and meet members of the team.

The home is now welcoming new residents and inviting anyone considering care for themselves or a loved one to arrange a private visit.
